  • Travel to various job sites to assess, diagnose, and/or replace damaged or worn parts for a variety of manufacturers of utility equipment to ensure quality standards.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble/rebuild equipment components.
  • Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, transmissions, chassis, driveline, fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, body components, air systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, wheels, tires, and undercarriages. Rebuild gearboxes and outriggers or boom lift cylinders.
  • Troubleshoot engine, transmission, and drivetrain systems in heavy equipment.
  • Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of problems and discusses preventive techniques with operators to minimize future repairs.
  • Complete electronic data entry associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied parts and purchases.
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment performing preventative maintenance as required, including oil/filter changes, taking oil samples, etc. according to predetermined schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment (service truck).
  • Organize shop, tools, inventory items, etc.
  • Meet all company, governmental, and equipment-specific safety requirements.
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Safety Sensitive position.
  • Performs minor repairs to equipment and vehicles as necessary, including lights, hoses, belts, etc.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes and malfunctions.
  • Utilize diagnostic software to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Weld, cut, and fabricate equipment and components.
  • The ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and the ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours when necessary are essential functions of the job.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership.

Minimum

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass DOT physical.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb or crawl under or on top of equipment
  • Ability to manipulate components in hard-to-reach places with hands or tools.
  • Regular overnight travel
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of off-road heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, electrical systems, drivelines, steering mechanisms, and suspensions.

Preferred

  • Class A or B CDL
  • Certification from a technical or vocational school in heavy-duty mechanics or a related field.
  • Experience using Fleetio or other electronic fleet management software
  • Certification to perform annual DOT certification of vehicles

Ability to wear and/or use the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to, dust mask, earplugs, gloves, hardhat, respirator, safety glasses, work boots, and safety vest.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools, either electric or pneumatic operated.
  • Lift, carry and push/pull heavy items and/or equipment up to 100lbs occasionally, greater than 50lbs often, up to 50lbs frequently.
  • Climb into and out of equipment.
  • Work at great heights.
  • Shop and field environments include, but are not limited to, machines, tools, construction equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes.
  • Work in a hot, cold, dusty, or wet environment.
